As a Squadron, we started construction of this website in June 2007, and its thanks to members both past and present, that we have been able to produce a proud record of the Squadron’s history, as well as current features and events.

Our objective now is to promote both The Air Training Corps and 499 Squadron to the young people of our town, and give an insight into the opportunities that are available right on their doorstep.

New I/Sgt Jon Glave
OC 499 Sqn and CI Paul Morgan (499 Sqn Flying Liaison Officer) are very pleased to announce that Instructor Cadet Sgt Jonathan Glave has attained the prestigious status of Advanced Gliding Scholarship Gold Gliding Pilot Wings; the first cadet to do so over the last 14 years on 499 Sqn. Jon’s achievement was made more memorable given that he attained this standard on the occasion of his 18th birthday on the 1st of June 2008. A BIG well done and congratulations from the Staff, Committee Members and your fellow cadets belonging to 499 Port Talbot Sqn Air Training Corps as well as a thank you to the Flying Instructors at 636 VGS for training you to such a high level of Piloting ability
