Cadets off to Khatmandu

Officers and cadets of 499 Squadron Port Talbot Air Cadets grouped before setting off to the Himalayas.  Led by Flt Lt Mike Stone, the group spent 28 days trekking at the top of the world.  The trip was a result of two year of planning by the squadron as a special millennium event, and the officers and cadets have taken part in many activities to fund the trip.  Local industry has also donated money to help out.

The party flew to Kathmandu before travelling to Lukla to trek to a height of 6,600 metres to reach Mera Peak, the highest walkable peak in the Himalayas.
