Sgt Gethin Davies has been awarded a sixth form scholarship after attending OASC earlier this year. Gethin, who has aspirations to become a pilot attended RAFC Cranwell in February, to undergo the arduous selection process that involved aptitude testing and vigorous interviews. He was among 8000 other 16 year olds that applied for the 45 scholarship places this year!

The scholarship means that Gethin has been awarded a bursary of £2000 and a place at OASC again in February for final selection as a direct entry Pilot. He describes how the 3 days he spent in Cranwell were both eye opening and encouraging to be selected as one of few to receive the award.

In August Gethin and fellow scholars were given places on a 14 day outdoor pursuit and leadership course in the RAF development centre in Grantown-On-Spey. Here they were able to let off steam, and took part in every outdoor activity from Rock Climbing to Raft Building. He commented on how much it has helped him develop his personal skills in a difficult environment. He made some great friends and is now preparing himself for his final interview.
