Flight One
3rd February 2007
Aircraft Type and
Number: Tutor GBY UN
No 1 AEF
Duration : 30 Minutes |
 |
|
Flight Description
This was my first ever AEF. I was a little
nervous stepping into the aircraft and the
pilot did his pre flight checks and told me
the actions he was doing. As the pilot took
off we had a good chat about which aircraft
he has flown in before and he taught me the
principles of flight. He showed me how to
keep the aircraft on a straight and level
altitude. We flew over port talbot with very
little clouds in sight so it made for a
great day of flying. We then headed back
along the coast and landed at RAF St Athan,
Smiles all round as
I
had my first ever AEF.

Flight Description
My second flight. Here
I
was eager to
experience aerobatics. Low clouds. As we
climbed out of St Athan the pilot pulled the
tutor up to 5000 feet and here above the
clouds we experienced aerobatics. The pilot
pulled a barrel roll asking me to follow
through then he handed me control to attempt
a barrel roll and
I
made it with a little help. Then we pulled a
loop which
I
was allowed to attempt and
I
made it. The
feeling of the G force was great. Aerobatics
around Port Talbot was great. The pilot then
put the aircraft into a steep turn and we
flew over my house and then headed back to
St Athan of which
I
had control of the aircraft to head along
the coast into cardiff and then the pilot
controlled the plane into a steep turn and a
smooth landing on the runway.

Flight Description
Third flight of 2007. Here the pilot was
talking to me about the pre flight checks
and asking me about what
I
want to choose as
a career. We took of from St Athan and told
by ATC to fly at 4000 feet. We flew along
the coast below the clouds and as we reached
Port
Talbot,
pulled a steep turn into Margam and to see
my house. Then we climbed up above the
clouds to experience aerobatics. Here we
pulled a stall turn, a loop and steep
maneuovers and at this point the pilot said
that the G force we pulled was 4G. We then
headed back along the coast full of the
adrenaline of aerobatics to land at St Athan
for a great morning of flying. |

Flight Description
A warm November afternoon made a great day
of flying. Blue sky wherever you looked. I
was first to fly today and we taxied out and
took off. My pilot was staying over from
another base for the week. We took off and
cruised to 1500 FT to around Nash Point
Lighthouse. We flew around Porthcawl and
into Port Talbot. As the Pilot was
unfamiliar with the area I showed him the
many great things around Port Talbot. After
this the pilot asked me would I like to do
some aerobatics. Very happily I said 'Yes
Sir'; so we climbed to around 3500 ft and we
put the aircraft in to some aerobatic
manoeuvres. The
pilot did a barrel roll and then asked me to
have a try. Then we did two loops and around
3G. After this we descended to around 1500
ft and the pilot taught me how to use the
trim wheel which was a very interesting
lesson. After using the trim wheel of which
the pilot said was to a good standard, we
headed back around Nash Point and landing
into RAF St Athan. |
