As a
Squadron, we started construction of this website in June
2007, and its thanks to members both past and present, that
we have been able to produce a proud record of the
Squadron’s history, as well as current features and events.
Our objective
now is to promote both
The Air Training Corps and 499 Squadron to the
young people of our town, and give an insight into the
opportunities that are available right on their doorstep.
During
a recent visit to 499 (Port Talbot) Squadron, Group Captain
Allen presented Cadet Warrant Officer Gethin Davies with the
Blackham Bronze Trophy for 2009.
To be
chosen as the Best Male Cadet in the Wales and West Region of
the Air Training Corps, which comprises almost 6000 cadets was a
superb achievement for Gethin, but little did he know that
within just a few short weeks that his efforts and outstanding
service within the Corps over the last 5 years would be
acknowledged by receiving the accolade of “Best Male Cadet in
the Air Training Corps for 2009”.
It was with sheer delight that
Wing Commander Wilson
made this announcement on Tuesday 28th
April, and accordingly, we as a Squadron we are
collectively very proud and congratulate Gethin on
being this years recipient of the most prestigious
Dacre Sword Award for 2009.Emails of Congratulations
